Controversy surrounding Best Actor/Actress Emmy nominations

As Little Dorrit has received such a large number of Emmy nominations, the lack of nominations for the lead actor, Matthew Macfadyen, and lead actress, Claire Foy has caused some controversy.

The Boston Globe has this to say: "Also in the movie/miniseries category: Why weren’t the two extraordinary “Little Dorrit’’ leads - Matthew Macfadyen and Claire Foy - given their due?"

11 Emmy Nominations the most ever for a single Masterpiece program

PBS is reporting that its 13 nominations (11 for Little Dorrit and 2 for Wallander) are "the largest number of nominations ever for a single season of the series."  Also, Little Dorrit earned the most nominations ever for a single Masterpiece program.

Little Dorrit has a 50% chance of winning the Outstanding Mini-series category.

Little Dorrit receives 11 Emmy nominations

It was announced this morning that Little Dorrit has received 11 Emmy nominations including the areas of

Outstanding Miniseries
Tom Courtenay and  Andy Serkis for Outstanding Supporting Actors in a mini
Andrew Davies for Outstanding writing
Dearbhla Walsh was nominated for Outstanding Director in a mini-series
Outstanding Casting for a Mini-series, Movie or Special
Outstanding Art Direction

Although Matthew Macfadyen and Claire Foy were not specifically nominated, it wouldn't have been possible for Little Dorrit to receive so many nominations without their incredible efforts.
