Perfect Nonsense: Matthew to play Jeeves in West End

The Guardian has announced that Matthew Macfadyen will be starring as Jeeves with Stephen Mangan as Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, a comedy double act based largly on a 1938 book The Code of the Woosters.

Matthew will be the brilliant, unflappable butler to Mangan's endearingly idiotic Bertie.

The play is due to open at the Duke of York's Theatre on 30 October after short runs at Richmond Theatre and the Brighton Theatre Royal.

Ripper Street: Will Matthew Macfadyen get an Emmy nod? (Boston Globe)

The Boston Globe has an interesting article about suggestions for Emmy nods.  Here's what they said about Matthew Macfadyen:

The BBC America series “Ripper Street” had a lot going for it during its first season — a vivid late-19th century setting, early “CSI”-style forensics, and twisty cases of the week. And Matthew Macfadyen, as lead detective Edmund Reid, was its best virtue. Macfadyen, so memorable in PBS’s “Little Dorrit” and “Any Human Heart,” was commanding and morally sound in an atmosphere of East End chaos, and then he was emotionally damaged and secretive. In a world where Michael C. Hall is continually nominated for a role that has become stale, in “Dexter,” Macfadyen ought to be a sure bet.

Hopefully the Emmys will listen.

Our Men is there a name change?

Robert Webb was interviewed recently and the following statement was made:

...they just completed a new series called Ambassadors, in which they play two British diplomats in eastern Europe, alongside Keeley Hawes, Matthew McFadden and Tom Hollander

Aside from misspelling Matthew Macfadyen's name, the series "Our Men" seems to now be labelled as "Ambassadors".  However, this may be an error, unless BBC confirms this.

Thanks to alex and The Guardian.
