Lost in Karastan: notes from the Hamburg Film Festival

A very dear friend has seen Lost in Karastan at the Hamburg Film Festival and let me know some of her notes from the event.

First, she really liked the movie.  She says that Ben Hopkins attended the event and answered some questions from the audience.

One German fan asked Ben if Matthew Macfadyen needed to be convinced to take the role of Emil Forester in the movie.  Ben replied that no, Matthew loved the character of Emil.  Ben also said that Matthew is a very kind and lovely man.

Ben also told the audience that after the theatrical release of Lost in Karastan, it will eventually go to DVD, which is fortunate for those that may never get to see the movie otherwise.

The Enfield Haunting: Matthew Macfadyen

Sky Living, the UK pay TV channel, will be showing The Enfield Haunting, a three-part poltergeist drama based on real events that took place in a house in North London in 1977.  It will star Matthew Macfadyen, Timothy Spall and Juliet Stevenson.  The Enfield Haunting will be directed by Kristoffer Nyhold, of The Killing fame.

Matthew Macfadyen will star as Guy Lyon Playfair, a skeptical investigator and the author of the book This House is Haunted from which the drama is adapted.

Macfadyen said: "I'm very pleased and excited to be a part of this strange, unsettling and really quite moving story - and especially pleased to be working again with the brilliant Tim Spall."

Spall will play Maurice Grosse, a rookie paranormal researcher, Juliet Stevenson will play his wife Betty.

The drama is being scripted by Joshua St Johnston (Walking on Sunshine), with Adrian Sturges producing for Eleven Films. The executive producers are Jamie Campbell for Eleven Films and Cameron Roach, Sky’s acting head of drama.

Sky says the supernatural drama will form the "cornerstone" of Sky Living’s schedule for spring 2015.  Production is due to begin in London this autumn.
