Ripper Street S3: BBC will begin airing in the UK on 31 July

Series 3 of Ripper Street, which was originally axed by BBC and revived by its fans and Amazon, will finally begin airing in the UK on Friday 31, July at 9 pm according to Radio Times.

 

Also, to make it even more absurd that BBC cancelled Ripper Street, BBC Worldwide announced that it posted record returns for BBC because of shows like Ripper Street!

Premium content investment delivered a rich mix of titles, including drama - which accounted for almost half of total investment in the year. Top-selling titles were Doctor Who, Top Gear, Orphan Black, Life Story, The Musketeers, Atlantis, Call the Midwife, Ripper Street, Sherlock and The Honourable Woman.

Churchill's Secret: Matthew Macfadyen joins cast of new ITV/PBS film

ITV has announced that several new cast members for the 120 min film that will be shown on ITV in the UK and PBS in the US (It will air in 2016 in the US).

Matthew Macfadyen will play one of Churchill's adult children, as Randolph Churchill.

Told from the viewpoint of his young Nurse, Millie Appleyard, the drama follows his battle to recover as his long suffering wife Clemmie, desperately hopes the stroke will force Winston to retire while his political friends and foe scheme to plot who will succeed him. 
 
Meanwhile his adult children - descend on Chartwell, unsure if he will pull through, as tensions within his family begin to surface. 
Filming begins this month (June 2015) in London, Hayes and at Churchill’s principal family home, Chartwell in Kent.
 
Churchill’s Secret is a Daybreak Pictures/MASTERPIECE Co-production for ITV.

The Trapp Family: Aquired by Lionsgate

Lionsgate has aquired the US/Canada/UK rights to The von Trapp Family - a Life of Music.  The von Trapp family was brought to fame in the Sound of Music, but this film will show some of the struggles the eldest daughter experienced.

In the film, Agathe von Trapp (Eliza Bennett) has been searching for her path in life since childhood: She is the eldest daughter among many siblings, and her relationship with her father, the distinguished marine officer Georg von Trapp (Matthew Macfadyen) and his second wife Maria von Trapp (Yvonne Catterfeld), is often challenging. She develops her beautiful voice and stimulating musical talent together with her family and with the support of the famous singer Lotte Lehmann (opera singer Annette Dasch). She constantly struggles for the love of her childhood sweetheart Sigi (Johannes Nussbaum), not to mention, she must confront the menacing rise of fascism in Germany and Austria. Emigration to the U.S. finally brings a decisive step toward freedom and world success. Rosemary Harris (Spider-Man) plays the elder Agathe con Trapp.

Concorde Filmverleih and Constantin Film Vienna will release the picture in Germany and Austria in November 2015.  Lionsgate is planning a Christmas 2015 release.

The Trapp Family- A Life of Music: Photos from Salzburg

Filming wraps up in mid-June for The Trapp Family and more photos of the cast and crew have been released while filming in Salzburg.  You can view them HERE and HERE.

The theatrical release is planned the winter of 2015/2016.  The movie will premiere in November in Salzburg Mozart Cinema.
